Dermal Fillers

While neuromodulators address lines formed when the face is in motion, dermal fillers combat static lines or those creases that form when the face is at rest. These wrinkles may result from gravity and the aging process, as well as from prolonged sun exposure. Fillers are ideal for correcting a loss of volume in the cheeks, temples, and lips, and can provide a more youthful, supple-looking countenance without downtime or discomfort.

Benefits of Dermal Fillers

Facial fillers are among the most versatile cosmetic treatments. They can be used to fill in depressions, correct the appearance of scars, and enhance facial contours, all without anaesthesia, incisions, scarring, or the higher risks of surgery. Facial fillers in Manhattan Beach provide the following outstanding benefits:

  • Short, relatively painless treatment

  • Rejuvenated, youthful-looking skin

  • Smoothed wrinkles, lines and creases

  • Improved definition of the jaw line

  • Plumped, smoothed lips

  • Boosted self-confidence

  • Save, non-invasive treatment

  • No downtime

How do Dermal Fillers work?

Dermal fillers are a safe and effective method for slowing down the aging process and creating a refreshed and more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid which occurs naturally in the body, minimizing the risk of side effects and allergic reactions.

Some of the benefits of dermal fillers include smoothing out fine lines and creases, plumping lips, and restoring a full and youthful shape to the face, minimize shadowing beneath the eyes, regenerate volume on sunken cheeks and provide an enhanced jawline structure. If you are concerned about fine lines and loss of facial volume, dermal fillers are an excellent and non-invasive approach to combating the aging process.

*All filler patients must wait a minimum of 2 weeks before retreating or correction.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR DERMAL FILLERS

Stop any prescription medicines two weeks prior to treatment and vitamin supplements that affect blood clotting at least three days before.

One week before treatment, eat fresh pineapple or take Bromelain supplements, an enzyme that is known to decrease bruising.

Three days before treatment, take arnica, an herbal product that reduces swelling and promotes healing.

Twenty-four hours prior to receiving dermal fillers, don’t consume alcohol.

How long do Dermal FIllers last?

Hyaluronic Acid fillers are not permanent. Depending on the product used, they can last 6 months to two years.

Do Dermal Filler injections hurt?

A topical numbing agent can be applied to ease discomfort. If Lidocaine injections are preferred, swelling of the area and numbness can last for several hours.

What can I Expect During my Treatment?

Treatment with injectables typically takes fewer than 30 minutes to perform. Many dermal fillers are formulated with built-in lidocaine and are thus painless; however, your provider can apply a topical numbing solution to the skin prior to your treatment to ensure a stress-free, comfortable experience. Injections are then administered strategically at the previously agreed-upon points to help reduce the signs of aging and provide a smoother, more inviting countenance. One of the nicest aspects of dermal fillers is that they are non-invasive and non-surgical, meaning you can expect to return to your normal activities right away after your session.

What can I expect after injections?

While mild bruising and swelling are not uncommon, you may return to your normal activity twenty-four hours after your procedure.

Lip filler migration:

If you are a new patient seeking lip augmentation and you have filler migration, an enzyme may be used to dissolve the migrated filler prior to your injections.

Are there any Risks or Side Effects?

Because many fillers rely on the power of hyaluronic acid, a biocompatible compound, allergic reactions are quite rare. As with any cosmetic procedure, however, there are some inherent risks. These include bruising, swelling, tenderness, itching, and rash. Less common side effects may include asymmetry, temporary numbness, and a poor aesthetic outcome. Luckily, many filler treatments can be reversed.

Is there any Recovery after Dermal Fillers?

Most patients are able to immediately resume their normal routines after a dermal fillers session. Minor swelling, bruising, and tenderness only last a matter of hours or the rest of the day, after which they quickly fade. While there are few restrictions after dermal filler injections, it’s important to avoid vigorous exercise for a few days in order to allow the product to properly settle into place. You should also refrain from rubbing, touching, scratching, or disturbing the skin in any way, as this can cause the filler to migrate into unintended areas.
